Life As We Go

I’m not dead

It has been brought to my attention that I still have a poor little blog out there on the interwebs, sorely in need of an update. I must admit I’ll be sad to see my gramp’s cute squishy face no longer staring back at me…

Unfortunately I really haven’t been up to many interesting things that are fun to hear about after the fact. But I will give you a few: a flat tire, a vacant rental house, a wedding dress due to arrive just after my birthday in July!, filling my house back up with JUNK, getting puffier, a new stray kitty, a messy house and a whole lotta knitting.

stash

This isn’t even all of my recent stash acquirement. I had one more shopping escapade at Knit Michigan which resulted in another pile o’ yarn (including a 5,000 yd cone of cotton for $5!) that I don’t have a picture of. I’m officially done buying yarn for a while now- but as you can see I at least have enough to keep me busy in the meantime.

scarf

I finished the Column of Leaves scarf which is in Little Lola by Schaefer Yarn… for myself.

*The Swirls Cap in Shepherd’s Wool… again for myself. And yeah… me post-shower. I can’t make myself post the bigger version of this. Regardless- I love this yarn and the hat. (*this one is a Ravelry link)

I’ve also been crocheting snowflakes. I picked up a pattern book at Michaels and have 7 or 8 done so far. They’re all shriveled little tangles of thread though- I need to block and pin them out with some fabric stiffener. I’m hoping to make enough to do some kind of garland or decoration for the holidays.

Also, I’ve been plucking away at my third Pomatomus sock- you can see it in the bottom left corner in the first picture. If you’ll remember the first one I knit (also my first sock ever) was incredibly tight, to the point that I can’t get it past my heel. I had enough yarn leftover after the second for a third, so I will have a complete pair plus the option to immortalize my first sock for all time.

Even still, I’ve been sidetracked from the Pomatomus now because I just cast on for the Soft Linen Hoodie- pictured on the left in orange.

I’m using Classic Elite Soft Linen in a colorway called Lupine, which is a gorgeous shade of purple and for once compliments my pale skin. I have about an inch of the front panel under my belt so far. I am really loving this yarn- I got it at a steal from the Dizzy Sheep.
